Here is a synopsis on the movie.
October 3rd 1951. Giants 3rd baseman Bobby Thomson hit the most dramatic home run in the history of baseball.The moment occurred in the bottom of the ninth inning in a sudden-death playoff game between the New York Giants and their arch rivals from Brooklyn, the Dodgers. People across the nation watched on their new TV sets, and the home run became known as the “Shot Heard ‘Round the World.” But after clearing the left-field wall, the central artifact of the play – the ball itself – inexplicably went missing. The mystery of what happened to that legendary baseball has remained unsolved fora half century. Until now.

I know this is a NY Giants site but sheesh!! Many of us put our hearts and minds into the season only to have it thrown in our faces by a player only concerned with himself. Shame on him for duping us. When he is eligible to come back, Giants should show some moxie and simply release him. How anybody would want to sign him next year at a reduced rate is crazy. Let him walk, he walked out on us, so see ya. If they make playoffs, he is not on my roster for what he has done to the fans, his teammates, and the organization. While we are at it, who wants Mota back, another cheat. Release him. He is nothing but a journeyman, why fans crave his return is beyond me. What a disgrace!-Gary

With Hall of Fame Induction Weekend at Cooperstown, NY, less than 2 weeks away, we at the NYGPS thought it would be a great idea to list the 45 NY Giants who have been enshrined into the Baseball Hall of Fame.  They are listed alphabetically with the year of their induction: Some of the players were mainstays of the team, while others had the proverbial “cup of coffee” with the club. Please also go to the Photo page as well to check out the plaques that reside in Cooperstown of these legendary players.-Gary

     NYGPS Member and long time NY Giants Fan and SF Giants Principal Partner, Peter Magowan gave his thoughts to the gathering on NY Giants Night at AT&T on June 26. Here is his speech:
     “One of the great advantages of being a Giants Fan is to know that you are a part of a very proud history. There are very few sports organizations that have the tradition and memories that we Giants Fans enjoy.
     That tradition now extends to 132 years, and obviously includes the many years that the franchise was in New York City. Even though the team is now in San Francisco it is important to remember where we came from and what we stood for, and that is what the New York Giants Preservation Society – led by Steve Rothschild and Gary Mintz who are here tonight – are determined to do.
     With us tonight to remind us of our New York origins is Ed Logan – the last batboy for the New York Giants. His father was the clubhouse manager both in New York and San Francisco. Also with us is our beloved Mike Murphy – the first batboy for the San Francisco Giants, and soon thereafter our clubhouse manager, in fact, for the last 32, our only clubhouse manager. If there is a symbol of the history and tradition of the Giants, who is more deserving than Murph.

John is currently gathering information for a book on the Giants leaving New York and specifically how it affected the fans here in NY.      June 26, 2012, was New York Giants Night at ATT Park in San Francisco with the foe being none other than the LA Dodgers. Things got underway at 2PM at the Larkspur Hotel on Sutter near Union Square. Assembling were Bat Boys Robert (Bobby) Weinstein (1954-56), Ed Logan (1957) and the SF Giants first one, Roy McKercher who won the job on a coin flip by long time Clubhouse Manager Eddie Logan. The loser of the coin flip was current Clubhouse Manager Mike Murphy who has been with the SF Giants since Day 1-April 15, 1958.
     Former SF Giants CEO Peter Magowan also stopped by our pre-game schmooze. There was lots of NY Giants Memorabilia all around the room for the crowd to check out. Co-Presidents of the New York Giants Preservation Society Gary Mintz and Steve Rothschild hosted the event. Writer John McLaughlin also attended as did long time Giants Fan George Schiffner. Frank Daniel who has been a Giant Fan since 1948 and who has visited nearly 70 ballparks was also in attendance. Moe Resner whose End of an Era (a DVD of the last game at the Polo Grounds on 9/29/57) along with Female Baseball Umpire and Baseball Historian Perry Barber also attended .Dignitaries received T-Shirts from the New York Giants Preservation Society.
     After about an hour of schmoozing and a phone call to Chris Durocher (son of the famous manager Leo Durocher) by the batboys, as well as a phone call to the New York Giants Visiting Team Batboy from 1953-55 Rich McCabe, the pre-game festivities came to an end at the hotel.

Giants welcome Dodgers to town
Homestand features: 2002 Giants players bobbleheads, 2002 Giants team reunion and the Junior Giants Stretch Drive
SAN FRANCISCO, CA. — The San Francisco Giants return to AT&T Park for a seven-game homestand against the Los Angeles Dodgers, June 25-27 and the Cincinnati Reds, June 28-July 1.

Tuesday, June 26, Mayor Ed Lee of San Francisco will be in attendance to make a very special presentation to Matt Cain in honor of his perfect game. In addition, Matt and the Giants will present items from his perfect game to Hall of Fame President, Jeff Idelson. The Giants will also celebrate the 55th Anniversary of the last game played at the Polo Grounds, with New York Giants Night at AT&T Park. Special ticket packages include a miniature replica of the old Polo Grounds stadium that was the team’s New York home for many years. Members of the New York Giants Preservation Society will be recognized in a pregame home plate ceremony.-Gary
